Looking to buy used 2007 5.9L
Im looking at buying a 2007 quad cab 4x4 laramie 5.9L CTD. I was wondering if anybody can tell me anything I should know about this model year before I buy? Also I was wanting an opinion on the price, it has 22500 miles and they are asking $25500. Can anybody tell me what rear end this pickup has and what rear end would be best for fuel mileage? Also can somebody run the VIN # for me to see what kind of warranty work has been performed on it?
Thanks

I have a 2007 2500 Ram with the 5.9L and I love it! Haven't had any issues with it!! (knock on wood). The 2007 model yearwas the transistion year from the 5.9L to the new 6.7L. 2007's built before the end ofDecember of 2006 have the 5.9L. And ones built from Jan. 1, 2007 and onhave the 6.7L. I think mine was one the the last Rams built with the 5.9L in it. It is a well proven engine. When I bought it last year, the dealer only had one other new one on the lot with the 5.9L. The rest had the 6.7L's. My truck has the 4.10 gears in the rear end. Ones with 3.73's get better mileage. If they only want $25,500 for that truck that is a steal!! Good luck!!
Great truck, mine has the 3.73. Boise, Idaho and back from Salt Lake I averaged 20.6 MPG. Course I tried to catch as many semi's as I could.
Only problem thus far, was loose clamp, which was leaking coolant.I do not anticipate any more problems.
Initially concerning however is there is a considereable crunch sound when the air conditioning is turned on. I have been assured this is normal, not by just the dealership, but by the folks on the forum.
The truck has incredible towing capacity and payload. I just went to Home Depot and bought a pallet plus of landscaping bricks. The workers were certain the 3500 lbs would drop the truck too much. Maybe dropped in four inches. Proud moment.
Good luck and enjoy once you find the right truck.

obviously was because it sold the day before I was going to look at it. I have not found another one that cheap. The cheapest I found was at $27000 and that was a SLT with 20000 miles on it. I did some figuring and I can buy a new one in the long run cheaper than that used one. If you drive both to 100K the new one will be cheaper per mile.

Yeah but the new ones have the 6.7 & DPF's. Some guys are lucky and do not have problems ~~ others are in the dealership 2 or 3 times a month clearing codes and getting new 02 sensors. Have fun and happy shopping
