i run a BADP 5" stainless turboback. love it. mine is a gen1. i wouldn't spend the money on the gen2, because you will still get codes when you delete the egr/egr cooler (which you need to do). pick what size you want (4" or 5"), then weather you want aluminized or stainless. you doon't have to have a programmer, but if you don't you'll get the cel. no big deal as it doen't affect the performance of the truck you just have to stare at the light and listen to a warning chime every so often in the cab. the edge/attitude and bullydog pmt both clear the codes at startup. i use the edge and really like it. gives you much more power and flexibility. these trucks with the exhaust replaced and egr/egr cooler removed are just plain awesome!

The gen2 is supposed to be code free. But they are having issues with that setup. That's the only difference, aside from price. And as I said before, you will get a code anyway if you delete the egr. So I would get a gen1, egr delete kit, egr cooler delete kit, and a programmer that will allow you to clear codes at startup automatically and give the options of more power. With those things done, you basically will have an old fashioned 5.9 with BIG *****. These rigs make alot of power stock. You'll see it when you rip the restrictive emissions stuff off. If you do the programmer on top, it'll run like hell!! the beauty of doing these mods though is that your motor is going to last FAR longer, because you won't be dumping sooty exhaust back into it through the egr system. Also your mpg will immediatly go up. roughly 4-5 mpg. that adds up fast with high diesel prices. Talk to Keven at K2 diesel performace about the egr kits. He has them and they're good quality. i'd go straight to BADP for the exhaust, and get the gen1. I got a factory refurbed edge/attitude off e-bay for $350-$400, about half price. as for sound, the 5" is much louder than stock. sounds awesome. i am not much for noise, but it does sound cool. the only complaint i have is at 2100-2400rpm (freeway speed) i get alot of drone. i am going to spring for a muffler this week. i have heard the 4" in person, and the 5 is much louder. the 4" delete kit sounds very close to stock. the 5, not even in the same ballpark! here is kevens link.

i'd give yourself an hour or so to do the egr kit. maybe 1.5-2 hours for the egr cooler kit. that's taking your time. don't look at it as settling for the gen1. the kits are really the same and accomplish the exact same thing if you do the egr deletes. you know your going to get codes with either kit with the egr deletes, so that evens them out performance wise, but you can save a good deal on the gen1. i think there are fewer problems with the gen1 too. i haven't had one issue since i installed everything. truck just runs sweet and does what it's supposed to.
