Default 2006 Ram Cummins TurboDiesel---new member

Hey guys, my name is Frankie and my father just passed down his 2006 Dodge Ram Cummins TurboDiesel. I absolutely love the truck and can't wait to personalize it. It's a metallic dark gray color (graphite) and dark gray interior. It's the 4 door with an 8 foot bed with a roof rack. I wanted to do a lift to the truck. I will have pictures of shortly because my father is still using the truck atm. Any suggestions on a lift, i dont want to go to big, but something to give it some more dimension. Also, if you guys could post some pics of what you guys have done and maybe give me some suggestions of what else I could do. I also had a question about maybe an ECU chip to bring out any restricted power from factory as well as an aftermarket intake. Again, I know this is overwhelming, but I'm so excited! Thanks in advance,

Frankie

Welcome, and congrats on the new ride. First off, what transmission is it? And how much power you lookin at making? Whats it gonna be used for? Those need to be answered before recomendations on power upgrades can be made. But, gauges are a must. EGT, boost, fuel pressure, and trans temp (if automatic) Depending on how much you mod it, a rail pressure gauge can be handy.

As far as lifts, a leveling kit can be used. Its a spacer for the front coils. You can run 35s with it. Then theres lifts like Carli and KORE that generally are a 2.5-3" lift. But they also upgrade alot of other parts in the suspension for better feel, longer lasting, etc. Can run 37s on these. Im personally going with a 4.5" Rough Country lift and 35/13.5/20s, or twin turbos, hard to say!

Enjoy the new truck

Unfortunely, it's automatic I would haveloved manual, but it was my fathers work truck that he drove ALOT and would of rather the automatic. I'm not going to serious for the lift because I really don't want to get a complete new suspension. I would prefer spacers for the coils. How much of a lift you think that would get me, and yes 35s would be optimal. And I will look into gauges definetely!

Edit- I'm havin some trouble finding the horsepower/torque ratings...actually i know its 5.9L 325 hp..and im guessing the torque is a high number but any1 know the exact #?

Welcome to Dodge Forum. If you have the 325 horse moter you have 610 foot pouds of torque. You can fit 35 inch tires with 2 inch spacers in the front. Enjoy your new truck.

Yep. 325hp/610trq. The autos arent bad, they just need some attention to make them better. Id sugest a good aftermarket torque convertor and valvebody. Itll make a world of difference in how the trans shifts and how the truck drives.

You can fit 35s stock, but it looks better with a leveling kit. IMO

As for power, a nice one with gauges is the Edge Juice w/Attitude. Id also recommend looking at the Smarty and Smarty Jr. TST PowerMax CR would also be good if you want to be able to grow in the power department later on down the road. You truck needs to have a build date of 6/05 or earlier in order for TST to work though...

With any power increase, its a good idea to get a lift pump, like an AirDog or FASS.

Either replace your muffler with a free-flowing one, or lose it altogether. You can also get a catback or turbo back system. You have 4" exhaust from the factory, just the muffler doesnt flow so well. Get a good intake to. AFE systems are good. Or you can make one yourself.

Yeah I want to do the 2 inch spacers for the fronts. But is a smarty like a chip? And I think im gonna go with an aftermarket muffler instead of full exhaust considering my budget. Do they make a magnoflow for this truck, or would i have to do a custom fit? And yeah, i was def. heading towards AFE.

The smarty is a programmer it re flashes your existing computer. The edge with attitude is a module it intercepts the factory signal and changes it so it does nothing to the factory computer. I sure magnaflow makes a muffler for your truck you may also want to look at mbrp, silverline, or aero.

Ok so after reading this thread, I think I'm gonna go ahead and do all the necessary gauges, AFE intake, and a magnaflow muffler. Thanks for all the input.
