Default Expected longevity on 96,000K CTD

Looking at an '04 2500 quad with 96K miles. Veh seems to have been well maintained, body interior excellent but I'm concerned with high mileage( probably towing). Assuming engine/trans have been regularly serviced, what sort of remaining life expectancy would be considered normal?

Thanks

I've got an 01 that, after buying I found out, that the previous owner wasn't the maintenance type. I rebuilt the tranny but am not worried about the engine (hope I don't jinx myself!) and it is at 201k. I'm sure the guy towed with it because the bumper has a crease on each side of the hitch because he couldn't back up worth a cr@p.
The 04 has 150K or more to go, especially if it was taken care of.

I wouldn't consider 96k high miles on an '04. I drive an '04 with 180,000 mi., and expect to drive it for a while yet. The weak spot will be your tranny. If the truck was used for towing and not taken care of your might end up rebuilding the tranny. Otherwise if it looks good and there are no obvious problems, I wouldn't be afraid of it.

Good Luck!!

No worries. Yea, the trans may need to be attended to, but its worth it to upgrade the torque converter and valvebody...

90 something on a CTD is just broken in. I know of several trucks with over 800,000 miles of problem free driving...

A buddy of mine in NC just turned over 1 million miles on his CTD, with the trans rebuilt once around 600k miles. 96k on one is nothing.

My boss has a 99 CTD he has 280,000 on it, he bought it with 80,000 on it the first real service he had to have done was a new lift pump and injection pump that was at 265,000. It does have a standard trans in it but he runs it 6 days a week with a 24 foot trailer with a gutter machine and all the tools that go with it I don't know the exact weight but I do know when it is full it is heavy.
