Default fram oil filter leaking

I had to have the oil changed when i was out of town
used 15w40 rotella and pulled up at home and noticed the burning oil smell looked with flashlight and noticed oil filter was leaking from the top and then i tried to tighten it and was tight. Then cleaned off with brake clean and it looks like it is leaking from the crimped part of the filter. Although its been
2700 miles since my last oil change. I'll be changing it tomorrow anyone have any segestions on what filter i should use? I was thinking fleetgaurd But I HAVE ALWAYS USED FRAM. My work uses fleetgaurd that's what Cummins sells anyways for there engines

Fleetguard is excellent. So are Baldwin, Wix and Purolaor.
Fram filters are not recommended by Cummins. I have also had Fram filters leak at the crimp.
While Fram is the most popular filter in N America the Orange Extra guard (and Tough Guard to some extent) are of the cheapest construction around.
Better filters can be had for much less $$$

Google Fram and you will find cut away pics. Very cheap construction.

I will never buy Fram. They may be the most popular here, but so was obama when he was elected.

I use Purolator on my car and truck- or Wix when I can't find Purolator.

See I have always though that Baldwin was the cheapest filter. My work uses them on 671 Detroit diesels. Fleetgaurd on all cummins I just thought that they was trying to save money and get the cheapest stuff out there not caring if its any good or not
Who would have thought that they would actually buy something good lol

Wix makes a really good filter. The only filter I ever had that leaked was a Fram. I would wait on an oil change before I'd use a Fram oil filter.

Just my $0.02, though.

I was at Orielly's today picking up parts for other cars. I bought a wix filter
with good old rotella 15-40
I also seen that they had a Cummins Mopar filter for 5.9s I didnt buy it $12.99
for that filter I could get a fleet guard for less then that I'm sure

I think the Mopar filter for the Cummins is made by Fleetguard.

the fibers in the fram filter can also plug oil vallies and lock her up. i read about that in a thread in another site and dealers will void the warranty. i use a baldwin filter on mine.
