Default 5.9 2006 2500?

This may be a long shot, but does anyone drive one that is not lifted or have mods done yet.As to this is how i will probably be buying it.So far it seems that 15-20mpg is a safe guess im thinking, towing 14 or more depending on load, and if it used as alot intown driving then when i get to use it on the weekend to tow boat i better give it some footlove to burn.Current owner of 1500/MC/2006..I bet as of now i get 8 towing and 11 higway..I dont see any thing helping to get much better mpg other than diesel purchase. So does this seem like a good selling point to take to the wife to have her ok it.Oh and it will only be a 5.9..keeping it simple right.I have read alot on this site and its the best place by far to get alot of info.Any other feedback is much appreciated!!Sorry if i am bringing all this up again for you guys to repeat yourselves but ive never owned a diesel just 2 ram 1500,my 96 and my current 06

I drive an 06 with no mods, but am not really sure what your question is? Mileage wise I never get less than 17 on my lie o meter, and sometimes as much as 22 highway. If you already own a dodge then you are just trading engines and I think the 5.9 is as good as you can get. Just be carefully that you are aware of the cab size. If you are used to the MC then going back to a regular quad cab may be confining.

I guess im not really asking much of a question,i think it may be more of a comfort thing to my brain.Just hoping i got the just of the diesel threads. And my lie-o meter seen 16 hiway once now its stuck on 12-13 which is not right either.13 would be nice haha..Do the 06 QC have foldin rear seats or any kind of rear storage other than the seat?.I have beel looking all over online, not to many to choose from in the olympia washington area.Would the MC and the QC be about the same mpg or maybe 1-2 less because MC heavier? Clif

My rear seats fold up and there are some small compartments built in underneath. also, there is a fold out platform to make the cargo space flat when the seats are folded up(may be an option not sure). As for the mileage difference I am not sure. I have the 4:10 gears and I get pretty good mileage. You should get a little better mileage with the standard gearing or with a manual trans. The maximum speed limit over here is 55mph so the 4:10s put me at 1800 rpms at 60mph which is perfect for fuel economy.

I just did a 638 mile, 1 tank trip with cruise on 60 and hand calc. mileage at 19.75 but 60 miles of that was at 30 mph or below because of snowstorm. Edge on mileage, no other "mods"

I have some mods not listed but I always tow in stock configuration. Empty driving easy I get 18 -20 mpg, towing a 28ft 9000 lb camper my worst was 9 and best was 13.
