Default 24V cummins in limp-in mode

Hey everyone, i have a 99 CTD 24V with a 168K on it....the other day i was goin down the interstate and the truck went into a limp-in type of mode...push the throttle and it would do nothing, i let off for a second and it returned to normal. The next day it did the same thing except i was going about 35MPH, i pushed it to the floor and it came back to normal....anyone else had any issue like this? opened the water drain at the filter and let some fuel drain out but didn't change anything, just changed fuel filter like 3 weeks ago....this is the first time it's done this since i've had it

sounds like the lift pump failing, quit driving it untill you get a pressure reading on it, otherwise you will need a new vp44 really quick, if its not damaged already, i bet its the lift pump tho, sounds like a good excuse for a fuel system upgrade
