Default new truck

hey guys i just have a few questions i would like to ask i am planning on getting a diesel truck soon and when i get the money i would like to do a couple of things to it and i have already decided i want to put stacks on my truck and i read a couple articles in some magazines one was that trucks between 1998.5 and 2002 have fuel pumps that don't last that long so i was curious if i get a truck in that time period what is a good fuel pump to put in place of the stock one? and i read another article about a guy whose motor went because of an air intake so i was curious if anyone else has herd of this or has had it happen? and i just would like to know what are some good things i can do to a truck to get some power and better fuel mileage but not break the bank either? well guys thanx for the help ill be looking forward to what you guys have to say

if you get one in thoes years, a fass or air dog fuel systems are good choices, and a fuel pressure gauge is a must, but we need to know what year truck you end up with as the mods are way different depending on the year of the engine, on a side note a 12 valve is much eaiser and cheaper too mod, and a 98 12 valve has the same interior as the 24 valve

not sure on lift pumps, air dog would be my choice, but as for the air intake keep it stock, aftermarket ones let to much dirt through and f'up the turbo, for econ get a chip like an edge or banks, they have power and fuel econ settings, as for the stacks they look gay, get a 5-6 inch dual underneather then you can smoke people, stacks are only good for pullin cause they keep you EGT down,

as far as intakes there are plenty of good filters that dont let dirt through, k&n and cheapo filters are no good for diesels,

edge chips are known for making egt's high, and banks is just a way overpriced name. there are much better choices then them

stacks... well, thats your opinion if some one likes them, there is no reason to call them gay, but once again thats your opinion and thats fine, but stacks dont nessasarly help with egt's, just need a good size free flowing exhaust for the coolest egt's

sorry for the rant

friend of mine has an Edge with attitude, and i wana say it runs around 600's but i can remember for sure,with the hot shot unlock, under high acceleration it has jumped to 1000, and 100% agree on banks, just and overpriced name, but i guess if its dyno proven maybe its worth a shot never driven one first hand, but i would definatly get one with on the fly tuning, and yes it is my opinion, and i used to like them, but idk i changed my mind

personally i would get a 12v cummins then the only thing you need is a screw driver to open up the pump (almost)

stock

power=more fuel=less econ
Econ=less fuel=less power
