The 12 valve is more reliable. It is the engine that earned the name "million mile motor". The 12 valve has no electronics. It will run as long as there is fuel. Alternator of battery dies, and it will still run. You can even push start it if you have to. They have 12 less valves and rods as a 24, thus less moving parts, and a longer lasting engine. They are more efficient because of less EPA restrictions, increasing fuel mileage. And the fuel pumps are supposedly very good pumps that can fuel 1000+ horsepower. I'm researching this also because I have my eye on a 12 valve I want really bad
