Question Rough running on high idle

Quick question, it is getting a little colder here in WI and I noticed when my truck goes into high idle it appears to be running rough. I don't notice it when driving down the highway or when the truck is at idle. The fuel filter only has 2000 miles on it, no warnining light for water in fuel, and I have used a commerical type deisel sol for cold weather and that will clean injectors.

Anyone have any ideas. Also the truck is still getting really bad mileage and so far no one has been able to figure out why.

Thanks

Can't wait for the SNOW!!!!

are you talking about the cold weather high idle for warm up, if so thats normal, not sure if they still do the 3 cylinder high idle, but the first 24 valves did and i believe they all still do, but its going to sound a bit strange as it helps warm it up quicker, but ya, normal

3rd Gens don't do the 3 cyl high idle. They run on all cylinders at all times. Do you have any white or black smoke? and codes? Even though the MIL light isn't on, there may be codes stored. What exactly is your mileage?

No smoke that i can see. no codes that im aware of. BUT hooked to my trailer on saturday and as soon as i got onto the highway i heard a ding and the check engine light is now on. i was hard on the throttle when it happend, trying to get up to speed. i have started the truck 4 times since then and the check engine light is still on.

i also dont hear the enginge doing what it was doing before and it doesnt appear to go to high idle as much. and it has been getting colder here in WI.

Oh and we got alot of snow. I want more. Anyway the truck is going to a dodge dealer tomorrow to see what the code is for. not sure how to check it. i tried the ignition three times but it didnt do anything.

the fuel mileage is about 8.5 with the trailer and 10 without it.

plus i can smell fuel and no one can find the leak.

i will take a video of it, can that be put directly onto this web site or does it have to go to youtube?

thanks to all.

What is lope? Is that normal. The outside temp is 4 deg.

The dodge dealer did clear the code but I got it to come back on. I would mash the throttle got the speed up to 70 then idle back to 50 and mashed the throttle again. I did that 4 times and the check engine light came back on. Just for FYI

the high idle thing is normal, but the code is probably unrelated, but as brian said, we need the code to go further
