Considering 2500
Been a Dodge trucky for years. Always a 1500 gaser. Now wanting to upgrade to a CTD. Found a 2007 with the 5.9l 84,000 miles. What do I need to look for in checking this unit out? Are the transmissions good or is this the time they go out 80 plus thousand miles. Engines are good for 2-3 hundred thousand aren't they? Just looking for some input.
I love my Hemi by the way 09 dodge crew owner.

The motor itself will last for ever, but the non-Cummins parts connected to the motor are another story Right around 90k miles I had to replace wheel bearings (2wd), power steering pump, starter, and now fuel pump. The only thing I would suggest to change right off the bat is the fuel pump....get a nice FASS or AirDog, it'll save you $$$ down the road. Don't wait for it to go, do it first thing. It'll save your injector pump and injectors, which is a HUGE expense if they start to fail. The starters on these trucks are actually pretty beefy...I think I was just unlucky because I've heard lots of guys running 150k+ miles before rebuilding the stock starters. Tranny on the '07 is good, provided it wasnt abused.
