just letting the guy know, it is not a saving over a gasser with the cost of diesel now, around here about 50 cents per gal more, in some places rural it is still 3.99 and up a gal where reg gas is in the low 3 buck, in fact 3.29 yesterday

so you get 18 around town driving? if that is going to be his daily driver, he needs to figure his overall averages, that is what I try my best to do when people are looking at a diesel,

I bought into the much better mpg from a gasser when I bought mine, but it is only better at very low rpm and sustained driving, when my truck had bone stock tires on it, i got about 1-2 mpg more out of it at 1700 rpm,n and not taking it over 2000 rpm getting up to speed on the interstates! if i gave her gas after a stop or passing another vehicle, to get goiing like I would a gas engine, my mpg would drop a easy 2-3mpg and that was never florring it, i only punched it twice, just to see if it really would burn all four rear tires (yes it did)

but like other people were saying about their dually 4wd 4doors getting 17 18 mpg, that was hogwash, they must have been going downhill for 300 miles to get that mpg, <g>

I tried a tuner on it, a diaBLOWsport trinity, that lost an immediate 2-3mpg again testing it on interstate not taking it over 2000rpm getting up to speed and only running 1700-1800 rpm, if you gave it the pedal with that thing on, you could watch the needle go down, but it dang it had some power, it went sideways from a dead stop punched to the floor, literally smoked the back tires

my truck has 4:10s so my mph was very low compared to most others, so i had less wind drag then someone running 1700-1800 rpm even with the taller tires on it i do not dirve it over 70mph now at that is about 1970 rpm

mine is a '06 CC dually 4wd pic attched, mine mno longer has the side steps, I put AMP power steps on it

Im not to worried about mpg as long as im getting better than 10mpg now. I rarely drive my truck during the week days if I do its just around town or something. Most of my driving is on the weekends. I prob get in about a 1,000 miles a month. I've pretty much skipped wasting my time at nydiesels. I found a 00 ram good condition no rust has 100k less then the one I liked at nydiesels for the same price!! Owner even said he is willing to negotiate a little too! Bunch of new parts, south bend dual disc clutch, new injector pump, ball joints and so on.

Its cause it has 136k on it or something! That truck only books for like 12k. I emailed him and told him I dont mind paying a little extra for a clean truck but Ill give him 16k cash now for it. haha we will see what he says. My buddy just got a 02 2500 sport 150k ext cab 4x4 6 speed, mbrp 4in exhaust, edge comp, intake, pillar gauges. Very clean truck! he paid 14 for it.

i bought a dodge diesel, 05 model, 2x4 last year with 42K miles, old man died and his daughter sold his truck.
05 model is a great truck and gets very good mpg, great comfort and plenty of power.
no more racing to get up the hills with my camper like the old chevy.

you have to have owned a 3/4 ton chevy with 350 engine to really understand poor mpg.

He supposedly goes over every single part of the truck. He told me there is times he will put 5 grand in parts on a truck before he sells it. I think his workers make it look the best they can and they raise it 5-10k
