Injector replacement is not too difficult. I just did it on mine and having never done it before it took less than 10 hours. It didn't take any special skill; pretty much just a remove and replace job. My total cost for 6 reman injectors and parts required was $1500. If you have access to a garage to work in and possibly a little help...
Mine did not throw any codes. It did not smoke too much as you describe. It did stay revving on its own after I revved it beyond 2000 RPM's in park.

IMHO if you get remand injectors make sure they from Bosch or some other highly respected rebuilder like F1, no way would I buy a rebuilt injector from Dodge, I've read way to many horror stories about bad Dodge rebuilt injectors, example one person is on his #9 rebuilt injector from Dodge.
