2nd A/C compressor?
why would someone go under your hood to steal your generator...
apparently you have no clue what I'm talking about...
do people normally break in under your hood and steal parts off your engine like your alternator, ac compressor, etc???
I'm talking about an accessory you bolt on to your engine just like an alternator, and in fact it looks like an overgrown alternator...

as far as the AC unit: I've seen them on craigslist for a hundred or so... be much easier than trying to plumb hard lines into your camper from under the hood of your truck...plus it can be used to give power to the camper whenever you want it to run the fridge, run the lights, microwave, etc.. you would just need to put a clutch on its pully like an AC clutch so you can use a toggle switch to turn the generator on and off, and some kind of idle control to keep RPM's up while generator is in use.

I was thinking of a stand alone generator. The problem with that engine generator is the same reason they stopped using generators and switched to alternators. Like this one says it works from 1200-1500 rpms. That means if the rpm's drop below 1200 or go above 1500 rpms no power is produced. Alternators produce power through all rpms. Because the automobile's rpm's change as it is driven the alternator works better. The power from the alternator goes directly to the battery and the battery provides a power flow that does not fluctuate.
I just found that there is a 12V a/c that works. Thermo King Makes the B-100 and Red Dot Makes the R_1205. The B-100 is over $5000 and the R-1205 is a shade over $3000. The good thing is that it can be removable. That is I can mount it inside the shell and when I remove the shell I can just unplug it and use my truck like normal. But I will need lay-away to get either one
I think I will try to go electric because it is easier and I can tranfer it to another truck if I sell this one.

Oh yeah but they work for it. I like my dogs better than most people.
With the Red Dot system it has a seperate battery so I won't drain the truck's batteries when parked. But it charges the batteries after the truck's batteries are fully charged.
