welcome hope you have a good aftermarket lift pump on that truck and a fuel pressure gauge...

if not, get those on there ASAP and keep your programmer turned off till you do or your injection pump will eat itself alive.

once you have a good aftermarket lift pump and know you are keeping good fuel pressure, crank that baby up!

 

First thing I do every cummins I buy change the fuel pump and put a HD torqe converter in

 

I really wish I had a manual tranny though

 

they aren't as strong as everyone thinks they are...

I'm on my second 6-spd




ripped every tooth off of 5th gear and broke the intermediate shaft in two just from accelerating WOT from a 55mph rolling start on a 6% grade in 6th with no load on the truck, not towing anything. just the aggressiveness of the fueling tune I was running, and how quick the twins spool with that tune got it....

snapped 65psi in about a second and trans went BOOM! 5th and 6th gears gone.

got it home in 4th and it was making horrible grinding noises the whole way...even in neutral it made the grinding noises. lucky it didn't seize on me.

my truck came factory with the early 6spd that had the smaller input shaft like the 5spd's so when i replaced it I upgraded to the later model large shaft 6spd and had south bend clutch change the center hubs on my clutch discs which they did for free so it would fit the larger transmission shaft.

now i run less aggressive tunes..same if not more power, just comes in a little smoother.

I added trans coolers and hooked up the temp gauge to one of them so I can make sure it doesn't get too hot and toast anything now..
