I dunno about his state, but if he lived here in WA, he would never have to take it through emissions since WA made it so ALL 2007 and newer diesels regardless of weight are exempt from emissions, and all diesels regardless of year that weight under 6000lbs scale weight are exempt from emissions.

So the diesel trucks that are made to pass EPA mandated emissions restrictions are exempt, even though they're the ones that are more likely to be modified, and old smaller diesels are exempt, even though the old mercedes diesels are apt to be owned by dirty hippies who don't maintain their vehicles.

I wonder if my lil 2wd manages to skate under the 6k weight.

Did you buy your truck from a legitimate Dodge dealer, or some used car lot?[/QUOTE

I will definitely heed your advice! I did purchase from a legitimate Dodge dealer!
I would definitely be talking up a storm with your dealership...I am fighting right now with several dealers, trying to get them to do a delete on my new 2012. They all will do the work, but only if I sign a consent saying this. "I hereby acknowledge that by removing the filters, I will VOID ALL warranty on the power-train of my truck. I also recognize that the dealership WILL NOT be held responsible for any liabilities." IMO my motor is way too much money to be throwing away like that.

I am REALLY surprised that the dealership could even sell that truck to you. The emissions laws (at least here in Canada) are federal. But each province regulates emissions privately. Even here in Alberta everyone is saying deletes=no warranty. Its federal rules that are halting it.

If that is the case where you live, I would definitely be going back to the dealer and asking whats up. If they are still willing to give you warranty, you better make sure that you never take your vehicle into a different dealer. You could be red-flagged and screwed for your warranty.

Here in the States it's about a $10k fine for tampering with emissions equipment for the shop that does the work and I believe the owner too, IF the EPA ever wanted to go after you.

I have logged over 40,000 miles with my RV in Tow behind my 2003-3500 SRW 6 speed. I run the edge programmer and cannot run it on a 4-5 setting because of EGT. You can be running along at 70 MPH and step on it and the EGT will jump 400 degrees in 2 seconds or less. The edge will defuel the truck to save the turbo preventing thermal meltdown. I run my edge on a 2 setting which just helps with performance and gives me a little delay time on the EGT if I get in a place where I need some throttle response. BEWARE if your unit does not de-fuel the truck my friend. Gary in Texas

Hey Gary in Texas, Which Edge tuner are you running?
I am planning getting the Edge with Attitude tuner. I belive it has safetys built in, but don't want to burn the engine up to find out that it doesn't.

Edge's website says it has defueling for cold engine startup, egt, boost, and trans temp, but it's got an * so who knows if that's only with the CS/CTS or if it's built in to all of them.

Default Edge Attitude

Hey Uncle, The edge programmer on my 03-3500 (162K) SRW is the Attitude. P/N EJD3000WAM It is specificly for the 03-04 250-300HP Cummins. The instalation was really easy and I have not had any issues with my programmer at all and I have been running it since 2007. I am blessed to have a 07 3500 SRW 5.9/ 6 speed ( NO SENSORS NANA NANA BOO BOO) with 27 K (retirment truck/ New RV puller) in my shop but for warrenty purposes I have not added an Edge to it............. yet but it is in the back of my mind. I hope this helps God Bless Gary in Texas.

That does help. I plan on getting the 4.2' screen version. At $989 locally, I don't want to regret my purchace. The main reasons for getting the Attitude over other brands is it includes a turbo timer, pyrometer, and ties into factory gauges without having to buy additional gauge clusters. I too have the 5.9 with only 34K on it.

I just installed the Edge with Attitude programer this weekend.
It does have defueling for cold starts till it reaches 170* F.

The first run was impressive, 35-70MPH uphill in no time.

Question though:
What temp sould I set the turbo timer for. I am usally down to 450* EGT by the time I reach my house. (1 mile @ 25MPH from highway)

What temp is too hot on the EGT, I need to set the alarms.
