Go to Sleep...Tranny Fine--Wake up....Tranny bad? WTF
Title says it all. I brought my baby in last night after a long night of snow driving over here in NY (18+ inches) ... and she drove mint the entire way home right to my driveway. This morning when I go to start her up, she drives normally for the first 2 blocks down the road but begins getting slower and slower and slower until it just comes to a halt in the road with me revving but no movement. I have a tranny temp guage so i check it regularly...does this make sense? Any ideas guys? I really dont feel like shelling out the $4k that the tranny shop wants for a rebuilt high power tranny to handle my 40's . Thanks!~

that is about how things go... about how my 2-stroke dirtbike top end seemed.
had a good ride day one, bike was runnin great all day. put it away. next morning go out to kick start it and couldn't turn it over at all...top end seized.
pulled the top end off and found the piston had shattered the bottom of its skirt and got pieces all over the crank case and a chunk wedged in the connecting rod.
so had to do a full motor rebuild and had to replace crank bearings because of piston shavings in the bearings.
moral of the story: **** can happen overnight...something breaks but you don't notice it while everything is still warm/hot, but once it cools down, it shows its ugly face...
my guess is your torque converter went...
built auto is never a bad idea, but a converter and valve body does go a long way...
