Default DEF issues on 2012 6.7l

Anyone else having major issues with the DEF system? Fluid level is full but the warning message was coming on saying it would shutdown after a certain amount of km's. Took it to the dealership and it was there for 2 weeks waiting on a new pump. They finally got the pump replaced only to drive away and 2 hrs later the same thing is happening. This truck is now sitting in a parking lot and the service manager has no solution. PLEASE HELP

I have about 15 cummins with DEF and one of them did it. Took in to Kenworth and it was a level sensor in the DEF tank. Same issue and no parts.

The ONLY way a 12 has DEF is if it's a chassis cab

Landscaper,

Sorry to hear about your concerns. Have you received any updates from the Service Manager? If you'd like to PM me your VIN# and the name of your servicing dealer, I'd be happy to review this further for you.

Default DEF Problems

I've heard back from the dealership in regards to our 2012 Dodge 5500 with the def issues. They're saying diesel was put into the def tank and is causing all the problems. They say the diesel is congealing in the tank and turning into a white milky paste. I'm wondering if this makes sense and if it is at all possible???? The opening for the def spout is too small for any nozzle at a pump and jerry can. Other than myself and my lead hand no other person drives or fuels up that vehicle. We both certainly know what fluid goes where!!! And if diesel was added to the def tank how long woukd it take for the system to act up??? Any help would be greatly appreciated. As it stands I'm now on the hook for a huge repair bill!!!

Thanks

Exactly, they are expecting you to be a moron and you keeling over and paying the bill. It may be too late, but go try to get a sample of the diesel fuel and def and send it off for third party analysis. I don't buy what they are telling you. As-is, I'd pull the truck out of there until the fluid is tested and results are back.
