May I ask what your experience with VE pumps is?

Very little hands-on. Doesn't matter, it's still a 5.9 Cummins; I guarantee it isn't 350hp and 1000ft-lbs. I've seen plenty of numbers, and that's just WAY out of line.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, I just saw that and went "whoa".

that hp/torque is possible...

I made damn near 900tq at the rears around 350hp with a mostly stock truck...just my adrenaline did all of those numbers...

heavy low end fueling with a stock sized turbo puts down crazy torque numbers at very low RPMs. and without the torque management of an ECU...super high torque is not reduced or smoothed out by the ECU. VE and VP44 pumps are capable of some pretty wicked low end torque which starts to drop in higher rpms..

hell those runs were all before the torque tune came out for the adrenaline...

lots of timing in the low end will give those high torque numbers.

Ve44 pumps are very good for low end torque. High horsepower? Forget it. But damn they can be a stump puller. If I am making those numbers (again, never had it on the rollers) I am by no means the first and will not be the last. Ve's are NOTHING like common rails, amd NOTHING like P-pumps. Like jigabop said they are similar in design to a vp44, with the main difference being that they are all mechanical, but tbey also only have one 12mm head pushing fuel (vp has 3 smaller heads). This is the reason for the great bottom end performance, and weak higher rpm characteristics. I am timed very conservatively compared to the guys trying to get 450hp out of them. This conservative timing in a VE translates into crazy torque at 1900-2600ish rpms.

And beyond that, you really think that with twins and a built head and modded pump I only picked up 300 ft-lbs?
