35 or 55 watt hids
Hello everyone,
I have a 2006 Dodge 2500 with 6 inch lift and 37 inch Toyos Open Country Tires..currently running Silverstars Ultra H13 bulbs. The light is good for the most part, I was thinking about 6000k in either 35 0r 55 watt. I have standard headlight assemblies. I just want something that is definitely better than the Ultras but something that won't cause a problem for other drivers. My driving is mostly highway! What do you suggest and who would be a good vendor for these?
Thanks

"HIDs will blind other drivers...Period."
I disagree with that and projectors are not needed, only if you desire to lighten your wallet some.
If you have the bulbs capped when you buy them, which many people do not, they will not spray the light around creating the "blinding condition" your commenting about.Buy them from a reputable vendor, such as Retro Solutions get the bulbs capped and away you go.
I LOVE my 55w HID's in my 05 truck and did the same for my Fiancee's 07.5 truck and they look amazing.DO NOT use 55w HID ballasts in the fogs as the lenses are too small, get hot fast and melt........Andy

I agree with dodge dude. HID's in stock housings are blinding. I've seen several cars and trucks running around with them in stock housings which absolutely blind everyone.
Do it the right way...
you can retrofit proper HID projectors into your stock housings, have a far superior light pattern, and not blind people by rather than scatter light in the wrong directions, you focus and concentrate it in the proper directions.

kit in the link comes with bi-xenon HID's, and easy to install HID projectors.

I have yet to see a set of 3rd Gen headlights that had projectors installed aim correctly or look right.Capped bulbs do the same as using a projector as they make the light hit the correct part of the reflector.
3rd gen Moderator DirtyDog has some in his 07. They look badass.

35watt will be less intense but still pretty bright. Im running 55watts in my truck and 35watts in the fogs. I've ran hid's in every different housing. The stockers are a bit more blinding do to the diffusers in the lens but if you dont have them then its not bad. I ran 55watt hids in my stock dakota lights(diffusers) and I had them aimed a little lower and only got flashed a handful of times in the coarse of a year. Then I upgraded to clear housings which I ran the same hid's and they had a better beam. I readjusted them to accommodate other drivers. Same thing no problems only flashed a few times. Right now I have the 55watts in my projector housing and they have a nice cutoff but still get flashed every once and awhile(need adjusted a little bit more) Plus my truck is leveled so the front sits up higher than most vehicles. Now for the kicker my dad has a 2011 challenger(stock hid's) and he gets flashed more than I do. Weird how something that is supposed to be better apparently annoys other drivers more than non approved housings. Also have to remember he is way lower than my ram or my dakota. To me im not gonna spend the the cash on projectors that are just a little bit better than stock housings. Now I know im gonna get the safety to other drivers routine blah blah blah. Tho if they were that blinding why am I only getting flashed like once or twice a week where when I drive my dads challenger I get flashed 5 or 6+ times on the same route? Everyone is entitled to their .02 so there is mine. I've also had cops pass me and i've followed them and never once got pulled over for my hid's.
