Well, it happened again, 4th time in 6 months dealer has to change ball joints, tie rod ends and tabs. What a piece of crap truck. Had nothing but issues with this truck, dealer has put in over 50 000$ of repair on the truck since I bought it new 2 years ago, truck has just 38 000km. Anyone know of a aftermarket company that makes better quality parts for front ends?

Do you have a lemon law up there in Canada? If so, you may want to look into it.

It may not even be worth it with the mileage you've got on it already though.

 

it sounds like the spindles have too large of a taper or something. I doubt the parts they are putting in are bad that many times...there is something else damaged on the truck that they are not replacing that is the cause of the issue...the only logical part would be the spindle since that connect to both ball joints AND tie rod ends.

 

mopar is crap, serviceable ball joints from mog or close competition is the way to go, next your u joints are going to seize up.

I have been down this road with my 06 2500..

dump dodges warranty and find a independent 4wd garage.

Your going to have to pay out of pocket I'd you want to remain a dodge owner and file a complaint with Chrysler Canada, the old style drag link on my 06 and the revised drag link on the identical front end during the last 6 to 7 years are chronic..

 

The problem with Moog is it's owned by Federal Mogul now so you have to check the part's origin to make sure it's not chinese crap.

 

Good insight.. I have moog components.. ball joints,.. that replaced the mopar ones, typically it's One supplier that will make all the parts for dodge, ford, etc, and who knows who builds mopar.. GM and Ford also use non serviceable ball joints and u joints...

 

Yeah the OE likes to spec things that will wear out on average after the warranty is up, but not so long after that they've been pawned off on 2nd or 3rd owners with no relationship with the dealership service department.

The front shaft u-joint is about the only grease fitting on the 3rd gen and even dealership techs don't know/care about it.

 

Sorry to hear about your front end issues, unfortunately I hear it all the time. Luckily, there is a cure available now, the last balljoints/steering system you will ever have to buy. Just to let you know I am not a vender, I'm just a very happy customer. Check out this company, EMF Steering Components, if a monster truck cannot break their stuff I'm sure your truck will not either. Everything is completely rebuildable unlike everything else on the market, when taken into consideration this alone is worth it, did I happen to mention that the cost is on par or below that of what every other high end manufacturer offer. I do believe the price is $499 for a complete set, Synergy as well as Dynatrac cannot even come close to offering you a product this well engineered.
