Okay, I'm coming up on my first (for me) oil change and leaning towards Mobil 1 synthetic 5w40. Other than seeing the dealership used mopar bulk CJ-4 15w40, I have no way know what the previous owner used. Recommended diesel engine oils seems all over the board but would like your input regarding what I am considering.
We're talking '14 3500 with a little over 38K.

On second thought after seeing so many opinions with regard to fluids, engine oil in particular, I decided best to go to the horses mouth, so to speak. Got all the information needed from Cummins Service Center. Impressed with how helpful they were.

 

I run T6 5w40 year round with a Stratapore filter.

Fuel filters I always run Mopar/Fleetguard.

CR parts are expensive and sensitive enough that I could never rationalize saving a few $ by running a sub-standard set of filters.

 

Agreed, there are places to save money on maintenance. Fluids, rather it be for engine, xmission, differentials, etc. is not the place, imo.
