Default Any ideas?

I have been searching for an older diesel truck to pull my 14200# 5th wheel.

After days of searching, I have come up with 2.

#1. 2004 3500 dually AT LB quad cab 164000 miles Laramie. Ford (I mean Dodge) build sheet says it has a 5.9L 24v cummings build for and sold to California so I assume not HO. It also says it has 4.10 gears and a GVW of 11,500. tow package, brake controller and 5th wheel hitch rails in bed.

#2 2006 3500 dually AT SB Mega Cab 207000 SLT. Dodge build sheet says it is a 5.9L HO built for Denver. It also says it has 3.73 gears and a GVW of 10500. It also has tow package brake controller, goose neck ball and an extra fuel tank in the front of the bed.

I have not seen either of these yet (heading that way Monday) but leaning toward #1 because of mileage, GVW and because of the appearance of heavy hauling #2.

Any input?

Sorry. I am a Ford Guy. It should be Dodge build sheet.

GVW for 2006 is 10500 according to build sheet
GVW for 2004 is 11500 according to build sheet

What about gross combined weight? Or even max trailer weight?

That is not listed on the weight placard. Going by the charts I have, it looks like the 2004 is 23000 and the 2006 is 22500.

So either one would pull your trailer without much trouble. Think I would lean toward the lower mileage truck.....

I am thinking the same thing. From the pictures, it appears the lower mileage truck has less wear and tear on it.

Funny how it works that way.

Both trucks are likely just getting 'broke in' good, so, either choice probably would work. Go look at both, buy the one you like best.
