Default ideas on reducing sound of Cummins in 2nd Gen?

I have a 1999 diesel and while i enjoy the sound, i wish it were quieter for my neighbors and parking garages.

I'm thinking about speaker deadening material under the hood.

Anyone done anything like this?

So long as whatever you use can stand the heat of the engine compartment...... It would be a real bummer to have it quiet for a bit, then burn to the ground.

Is the original insulation still attached to the hood?

original insulation is still in place, but the truck is extremely loud, but sounds like all the other Gen 2 diesels. i'll check on the heat issue...good point.
