Default 01 5.9L turbo Cummins 4x4 dually fuel system swap question

Hi I have a 01 3500 5.9L 24valve 4x4 turbo Cummins with a 6 spd manual trans. It has the "juice with attitude" chip I believe by "edge" I recently swapped my fuel system over to the airdog2 165 and deleted the in tank pump and the fuel filter next to injector pump. I ran my pickup line from the bottom of tank like a sump. And after a lot of bs thought I had it worked out. Well turns out I did not. Leaving the shop it ran excellent about a half mile away it started sputtering and lost about half power. Thought it might be more air in the lines but not the case. Limped it home, no more sputtering but only about half power and low rpm's. Got home cracked the injectors and turned it over and nothing but fuel and plenty of pressure or so it seemed to me...was searching google and asking a couple friends and from what I've read and what I'm told it's possible the airdog2 df165 is not compatible with my truck does any one know if this is accurate or not?

Seems there are a couple different version of that system. 4G, 5G, etc. Which one do you have?

I have the plain old airdog2 df165. No 4g or 5g.

Would need the exact model number off the label to tell for sure.... too many different iterations of that system.

But.... its a lift pump.... its sole purpose in life is to supply low pressure fuel to the injection pump.... I don't know what pressure the IP expects, probably wouldn't hurt to check that, and see what's up.

Well, it says 05-15.... So, technically not the right one for your truck.... Output pressure is 15 to 17 PSI on that one, I don't know what output pressure on the stock pump is.... It also suggests its a variable flow pump..... though how it accomplishes that, I don't know. It entirely possible that it either doesn't put out enough pressure for your motor, or, the 'variable flow rate' isn't working the way it is supposed to, and it simply isn't moving enough fuel...... I might be tempted to put a gauge T'ed into the output, (somewhere that you can see it...) and go for a drive. See what pressure is doing when it ain't running right.

Ok, looked it up, stock pump is minimum 10 PSI, 7 while cranking. It seems that it uses a lower pressure for cranking. (and this is on purpose.) Max pressure appears to be about 15 PSI...... But, yours starts fine, and runs... just not well. I don't think that pump is your issue. Something else is going on there. Any codes showing??
