Exclamation 48RE 2WD To 48RE 4x4 Transmission Swap (Automatic)

Hey guys first post

I picked up my first Cummins (2003 Dodge Ram 3500 2WD 5.9L Dually) I was informed that the transmission (48RE 2WD) had lost OD which I later confirmed. My question is could I use a 48RE 4x4 in its place?
Anyone know what's all needed or if this is even possible?
I'm thinking 48RE 4x4 Auto and switch rear OD Tail Housings OR 48RE 4x4 with transfer case and rear driveline for now until I complete the 4x4 swap any input would be greatly appreciated.

*** 2003 Dodge Ram 3500 4x2 5.9L 459K ***
5.9L 160k-180k Approx
48RE Unknown Mileage ** No OD **

Nope. Not easily anyway. Tail shaft housing is completely different, don't know if 2 or 4wd use the same output shaft either..... Find a 2wd trans, make your life easier.
