If you have a 03 or newer, there are several options that don't require a box...boxes only advance timing to get the mileage primarily.

The first is a RokkTech Sensor which advances the timing 2*. It simply replaces the existing crank position sensor with a modified sensor...I currently run one and have seen a slight increase in mileage...about 1 mpg across the board. I believe these cost $80 IIRC.

Another option is modifying the tone ring, which accomplishes the same thing as the RockTech sensor...but the cost is only a little time.

With the 03+ CRDs, you got to watch which box you get as some really increase rail pressure which causes problems...

Oh, and I'm in the low 20s with 4.10s, 6spd, and a 600CTD...but I got a few other non-performance mods too.

bekim, you should know the answer to this. . .who's gunna use the lowest setting all the time[8D]
uh, that may be me... just got back from a 900 mile trip to palm springs and I used the #1 setting (25 hp) of the Edge the whole way, average about 18 mpg r/t with minimal city driving. I basiclly set the cruise and forgot about it... (too many tickets on the record at the moment )

this morning on the last 100 or so miles close to home, I bumped it up to the 3 settiing (60 hp) and opened it up... just in time to see 3 cops writing tickets... [&:] damn, back to 1... Its too easy to get up to 80 on the 3 setting and not notice it.

I drove to Palm Springs today round trip of 280 miles. Crusing at cruise controlled 65 mph the whole way both ways 1800 rpm. Running boost of 4-6 on mostly flat terrain. Egt's of 500-600 Deg F on the flats. Got a solid hand calculated 22.7 mpg! That's an all time best for me. I was carrying about 800 lbs of tools inside the shell. Started with a FULL tank of fuel. Bully Dog set on TOW.
Steve, I had to go there. My company made me go do a tiny job there (just the day)

I went for tranning. I orginaly was gonna fly but had an idea to have a look for rims & tires while I was down that way. well as it turned out the weekend before I went to meet another DF memeber for a TB swap from my other truck and ended up getting sick. so not only was I driving 7~8 hours, I was also miserable. I did find 2 possibilities as far as the rims & tires go but the class ran too long to make it feasable to go check them out. So the only plus to it all was I ended up saving about $150 bux off air fair & car rental vs fuel.

I found nothing there of interest to ever make me want to go back on my own. I'd rather go north. I do have another class i'm going to that is up in Vancouver BC in July. planning on making it a family vacation of sorts by including a bunch of other stuff along the way. the plan is to take over a week off and camp & explore some on the way up and while we're there. oops which reminds me I need to get the hotel stuff going for the 4 nights in BC...
