Default MMO in CTD

Does anyone here use Marvel Mystery Oil in their CTD crankcase? If so, how much for a 10 quart oil change? My wife used it for years in her Jeep and it had 145,000 on a four cylinder with big tires and never a motor problem.

Ive heard of it being used in the crank case, but I wouldnt worry about it. a good quality oil will be sufficient.

I've ran it in the fuel tank with good results, but quit running it since it makes the fuel red and similar in color to dyed off-road diesel (which you can get in big trouble for running on the road).

Looks red in my filter housing when I pull it...I drive cross country, so no thanks, I've been dipped before and I'm not taking the chance of a $10k fine.

I drive truck for a construction company for a living and have found out the hard way that 1 gallon of red fuel will contaminate over 100 gallons of non-dyed fuel. As far as the dip test, I dont know haw much 8 or 16 oz om MMO to 36 gal of non-dyed fuel will change the results of a test. Here in Idaho, I have never seen the DOT dip a privete vehical unless you have a transfer tank in the back ( farm or construction worker), but have been told by the DOT that they dont issue a citation unless you are over 1%, so the MMO would probably be ok here. I use 8 oz of it along with 16 oz of PS in my 99 CTD and 1/2 gal of PS in my FreightShaker.

when I change out my filter the diesel that comes out looks as yellow as what I put into the tank. of all places it would turn red would be the filter, but mine generaly come out jet black from the crud in the fuel.

I ran a D4 on red #2 and the filter on it would be very red from the pigment. even after a few tanks of straight #2 the filter would only be slightly red from the pigment hanging around in the tank. I have yet to have anything red while useing MMO. besides the 8oz that I use is 0.1% of the total quantity in the tank

I don't know why you say this...it is a valid point and it does make the fuel red in my case...the fuel in the bowl was red...if it is red in the bowl, it is red in the tank.

The DOT doesn't care if it is dyed fuel, or fuel that is red because of ATF or MMO...maybe I've traveled a little more than you, because I have been dipped in both my 99 2500 CTD and my 2004.5 CTD...it isn't worth the chance. Neither truck is comercial or even commercial looking.

If nothing else, it is another point of view.
