Default RE: Fuel Mileage

Hi Fellas,
New guy here. I've found I get very good mileage if I slow down(not a easy thing to do Hee Hee).
If I run 60 mph I will get around 21.4 mpg but I run highway speeds and I usally run about 75-80 mph and get 18.4-18.8 mpg.
I have a 99 with a 24 valve, the trans is an auto.I've owned it for almost a year and have put about 40,000 miles on it.It came with 315-75-16 tires and has a3 inch lift package.
I had to put on a fuel injector and lift pump 5 days after buying it but still in love with my truck.
Oh yes it also has a 4 inch stainless steel exaust all the way front to back.
I've just changed the tires and put 285-75-16s on it and all the mpg measurements were with the other tires but it will probably be about the same.

I to am looking for a new truck. Just joined. Don't know whether to go with the 04-05 CTD 4x4 or the Hemi 4x4. Got to upgrade to a 2500 from a 1500. Getting ready to retire from military and will be pulling 16 ft trailer all the time or 17 ft 2300lb boat. Do you drive a CTD different than a gas? How long will they last? Almost bought one with 100,000 on it but was leary. My 03 GMC 4x4 gas has 86000 but it doesn't have the ***** to do the work of a 2500. Please fill free to contact me with advice. carl00723@aol.com. My wife wants to put MBRP stacks on a Dodge but also wants better than 16 mpg. That's what we are getting now. HELP

Sound like the Hemi would be good for you as its a very smooth ride and it will definetly pull 2500lb but loves gas as were the CTD double the mileage not as smooth and it will tow alot. Diesalengine last way longer than gas , i have a 96 Transporter with 511k and the engine still strong.
hope this helps a bit.

have you tried the PSD & 2S mix? Most of the time it will smooth out your motor quite a bit.

check out the Drews Brew thread tacked to the top of this forum, lots of info on it there... some of us have switched from using the MMO over to 2 stroke oil... personally, the motor is running night & day when adding the 2 stroke oil.

get a low ash non-sythetic 2-stroke. I use a marine 2-stroke found @ walmart for about $8 bux a bottle. the PSD will prevent the gelling in really cold weather.

why does it seem that the displays on our trucks tell us that we are getting better fuel economy than we actually are?
Last tank, which was my first full tank, i got 17.59 mpg with the brew, my overhead said i got 19.2... what a dissappointment, i thought i was doing good! lol
