here is the thing. . .the G56 tranny has a rather high final drive ratio .79. this makes it feel as if your running with 4.10's in the axels. why DC did this I dunno. I do feel your pain though. I have the NV5600 with 4.10's in my axels and I am turning the exact same RPM's to hit 70mph. however after 37K on the odo I'm consistantly getting in the high 18's and this is even with playing pranks on the kiddie ricers that think their civic is fast

the best thing I know if is an overdrive gear set. this will give you an overdrive in every gear and will reduce your engine rpm by around 20% or more.

Suggestions?

Yep, GV Overdrive... Fixed my RPM problem. Yea baby! Whooo hooo. 1750 RPM at 70 MPH .... 2500 RPM in 6th "over" is FAST... :-)

Larger dia tires (w/o going WIDE) will help too.

Diffferent gearing would too but not avaliable that I know of.

Added a variation of Drew's Brew and the mileage went up from 15.5 to 16.3, at least its going in the right direction.

In town I average between 21 and 24 mpg on the highway I average between 24 and 30 it all depends on how fast i'm running or if i am racing people. I have a hypertech programmer and it is set on stage 3 extreme. I also have 4" straight pipe from the turbo back. My truck is a 2001 quad cab 2wd.

Wow this is amazing, If this is hand calc'd, can you show us some examples of your fillups like I provided above?

pretty proud of this...05 Ram 2500 CTD short box, 486 miles from Wythville WV to Conneaut OH, filled up on the way up in Wythville, up to Conneaut and around town for 120 miles, then filled up in Ashtabula before heading south.

hand calculated 21.4 mpg

1) Are you stock, Yes or No and what are you running

stock

2)Fuel addatives, Yes or No and what kind of Mix (brand and how much per tank)

no additives

3)Auto or Manual

auto

4) rear axel ratio

not really sure... good highway running though.. 70mph @ 2000rpm's

5) 2wd or 4wd

2wd

Have a 2006 megacab and have been getting 11.5 to 12.5 mostly city hauling my trailiers combined wt 14,000 to
23,500 wt scale ticket. my display had froze on about 14 mpg 11,000 on truck so after taking it to the dealer he said to just reset display I clocked 19.8( truck only) handcalulated so went to reno and back 1550 miles and kept hitting the display and got 18.7-18.5 18.5 last tank I only hit it twice then it froze on 19.1 so I left it to see what I would get 17.4 last tank this is way better then the first 11,000 miles. but what is wrong with the display?? is it telling the engine what to do??

When I first purchased my '96 (with 200K, 5 years ago) I got 25 mpg on my drive home from TX to OH. It now has 300K and just ran from FL to IA and got a "miserable" 20 mpg. This is 100% highway driving. I can count on 17 mpg in the city, 15 mpg when towing my 5000# travel trailer.

Hand calculated. This is basically a stock truck. The fuel pump was turned up to "big truck" specs several years ago, I noticed a 1 to 2 mpg drop, but MUCH more power. No additives, manual tranny, 3.5 rear axle, 2 wd.
