Well I changed my fuel filter for the first time today, went very smooth (sorta) had it done in about 10min! When I was bumping the starter I heard what sounded like running water after I bumped it a second time, went out and looked and didnt close the drain valve![:@] Oh well, didnt lose that much fuel and a good learning exp. haha

thanks drew! without that write up i wouldent of ever even known about changing that filter. i got off work early today and figured on doing that and it only took me 6 minutes to do after i had the filter! thats easier than putting plugs in a gas engine, its about the same as pumping fuel into the truck
just curious if anyone cares to answer.... how would changeing the fuel filter give me better mileage? you would think that the fuel would run leiner thru a dirty filter?!?! anywayz, thanks again drew for the detailed post!

Changed my truck and my mom's truck today. I double checked the bleeding procedures for my mom's truck. The older style is harder to change than the newer style, also the FASS system helps.
Thanks once again Drew!!!
I thought that was how it was done but I was not sure, and knowing my luck I would have messed things up bad if I had not found your old post.

Boy am I glad I found this thread. Thanks Drew for the step by step procedure for changing the fuel filter. With diesel prices over $4.30/gal I need to save where ever possible and you just saved me a bunch. My wife is a little nervous because I tend to screw mechanical things up but this looks like even I can do it. I checked some local sources for a filter and looks like I will need to order from Geno's after I check my dealer for availability and price. Thanks again.
