Perhaps I'm missing something, but it didn't seem to make a whole lotta difference in sound on mine. I could hear the whine before and sounded the same after too. 2nd gens don't have the baffling, do they?

Aaron, to be honest, I dont think the 2nd gens had the baffeling.

with the way the intake is done on the 3rd gens it is more straight piped instead of that 180 bend the 2nd gens have.

so your probably right in that you wont hear much of a difference, but I do know with the 3rd gens if you yank the silencer ring and the baffeling the turbo will get borderline obnoxious

nope, two flat head screwdrivers, pull the intake off the turbo, look for the beveled edge of the snap ring that holds it in, pry it out with one screw driver, then use the other one to begin working it around untill if falls out, the doughnut shaped piece of stamped aluminum will fall out as well, install inatke back on turbo and your done.

only a 1 on the difficulty meter.

take the hard plastic piece out of the intake tubeing, the cross section is the baffeling we are talking about.
