1500 to 2500
this question has probably been answered, but i cant find it... i have a 96 1500 4x4 auto, i just bought a 93 2x4 250 with cummins and auto body shut, i plan on putting the motor in my 1500, theres a guy not far from me that says you can get a adapter for my tranny to that motor,, question is will that tranny hold up?? rebuilt tranny about 1 year ago and rebuilt to heavier specs. I also now wheres theres a 24 valve, the trucks wrecked but motor good, would a person beable to wire in the computer to acumadate that motor. if theres a website anyone knows of that could answer these question that bee awsome. thanxs a million looking forward to any posts. wether i'm nuts for doind it or not, good or bad i'll take them all dont hold back what you have to say. thanks again

The 47RH didn't have problems with the diesels Especially the earlier Diesels that had less power. Heck, my V10 puts out more torque than they did [8D]
The 46RE that you have in your truck won't do the job though. You'd want the transmission and driveline out of the diesel anyway...especially the front axle. The dana 44 in your truck won't handle the weight. You'll also need the computer for a 12 valve if that's the route you are going to go.

RE: 1500 to 2500
I've seen a B5.9 in a Chevy 1/2 ton. If you have "Monster Garage" in you back yard I guess you can do really anything. The B5.9 is HEAVY. Even the front end of the Dodge 1990 2x4 had front end "issues" in the 3/4 ton. Ball joints and A frame were not up to the task. I went through 2 sets of ball joints and new upper a frames. 1st set actually rusted out. (I got it used and the previous owner must not have EVER washed the salt off.) The front right ball joint pushed through the a frame!
I think the B5.9 is to heavy for a 1/2 ton. .... Not that it can't be done with a lot of work.

ORIGINAL: Drew
theres no computer contolling the engine of the 12 valve, those only came into effect when the 24 valves showed up.
