Default quadzilla xzt

Looking for additional towing power. Not really looking to bomb my truck, just want a little more power when towing and possibly a little better mileage. I am looking at the BDTD with the Outlook monitor and the Quadzilla XZT, possibly with their new Recon monitor. Anyone using either of these for towing? If so, how much are you pulling and what are the gains.

from what I read, the q-zilla module is a dream when it comes to towing. the extra 65hp it gives wakens up the engine while keeping boost and egt's in check. also the 65 hp it gives is not enough to hurt the tranny as well, and I believe the recon monitor can sense tranny slippage adjusting the power down on the XZT to keep from damageing the trans.

EDIT: forgot to add it will also increase fuel mileage by 1-3mpg. infact any box on the lower settings increase fuel mileage, as long as you can keep them on the lower settings

i got the quadzilla xzt. all i can say is wow. that thing made my truck seem like a rocket ship. i checked my truck before i put it on over a certain distance and got up to 60 mph. put the xzt on and the same check was just under 75. my mileage has gone up about 1.5 mpg even though i have a tendancy to stand on it occassionally and pass some cars. I'm seeing just over 20 mpg hwy and 16 city. i just tripped 9k on the odometer so it's still breaking in. haven't towed with the module installed so can't tell you about that. all in all i love it. only bad side is i can see myself upgrading in the future to the race model.

Thanks for the info fellas. I think I will go with this box and some Auto Meter gauges and pod. I think my service manager might be a bit more difficult to deal with should he see the recon monitor. I think I would be as well, if you had a certain monitor that wnt with a certain box I would have a hard time believing you didn't also use the box and would then be compelled to look real hard. You really can't drum up possible cause from a guy who has some gauges to protect his investment while towing heavy loads.

I made my mind up and ordered the XZT from Southern Hotrod. He has been providing me with info all week on different programmers and tuners. Though I won't get the box for a few days I am very excited. Southern Hotrod had an incredible price and some of the best customer service I have ever experienced.

Southern Hotrod is where I ordered mine also. Ed I believe his name is was great, gave me a smoking deal on the module and it arrived in about 3 or 4 days. I will buy from him again in the future when I'm looking to upgrade.

Got my box today......WOW! This thing really woke this truck up. I can definately feel the power differnce, and it will smoke the tires if I romp on it. Only one problem with it, now my check engine light is on? Anyone else have this happen? The truck runs great, the light just stays on. I can't wait to pick my trailer up next week and see how this thing feels with 12k behind it.

if you installed the chip with the key in that would do it.. you need to go to like auto zone to have the clear the code then whenever you move that harness or anything you need to make sure to remove the key from the ignition...

Cleared the codes at AutoZone and reinstalled with the key out of the ignition, now everything is perfect! Drove the truck all day yesterday, put on about 470 miles and my mileage is up about 2.1 MPG hand Calculated. I absolutely love this thing, Power and Increased mileage..........Can't ask for any more than that.
