For me anyway, it's not really about saving money as much as it's about extending the life of my engine. With the cost of new trucks today, ( not that it wasn't expensive in 98 ) I wanna keep my truck rolling for as long as possible.

That's one of the reasons I'm HERE !!

25K on both the oil filter and oil.

however this is my advice, save yourself some cheeze and get the fleetguard strattapore and do oil analysis. the report you get back will tell you what to do if it is to just change the filter, drain a few quarts and replace with fresh to introduce new addatives or what not.

usualy what happens is you are asked to change the filter and only the filter, fill the filter with fresh fluid and go fo 5K or so more miles. In the military this is generaly how the oil analysis program ran, it would tell us to change the filter, change all the fluids, or replace the engine depending on conditions. Infact these people are so good at checking the oil they can tell you if an injector is sticking open, if the head gasket is starting to go, or if the oil cooler is about to go bad yet you have no symptoms of a sticky injector, frothing oil or oil in the antifreeze.

and when you order all your stuff, check the price difference as to what you would pay as to what you are paying with the prefered customer program. that $20 sure does go along way

that $20 saved me close to $100 when I ordered all my oils.

Engine oil get the AME04 15-40. it is going to be 4 one gallon containers of the 15-40 Synthetic Heavy-Duty Diesel & Marine Motor Oil. you will come out better in the long run since you will have a gallon in reserve if you ever need a little to top off.

axels you will need the SVG 75-90. I got the 5 gallon pail. my little yoda also takes 75-90 in the axel plus it takes 75-90 in the tranny, the front AAM 9.25 takes a bit over half a gallon to fill, the rear 11.5 takes almost a full gallon.

if you have the NV5600 6 spd you will need 5 quarts of the MTFQT 5-30MTF. this fluid is made just for the New Venture tranny and my tranny shifts sooooo much smoother. the 48RE takes regular ATF, not sure how many quarts though.
