Default RE: OIL TO FULL?????

just had mine changed last weekend, what a bunch of KNUCKLEHEADS, i told them 11 qts, the service writer said we know!, I came back at him and said "if you know, why did you guys put in 13 quarts last time?" anyway when i paid the bill the advised me "we put in 11.5 quarts" i did a slow burn and paid the bill and will not go back, and this JIFFY LUBE is now at $99.99 for a straight LOF. that is steep!
soo my dipper says about 3/8 in above I'm not worrying about it. it should puke out the excess

who changed it, the dealership? next would be have you checked it since the change and was it fine.

I know when I change my oil one quart in the filter and the rest goes into the crank case. start it up and check for leaks, kill the engine and let it sit for a bit and after 20 min the oil is dead on the full line.

one thing I have noticed about thie AMSoil stuff and I'm unsure if this is the same for everyone else, but I check my oil just after shutting down and I was nearly a full inch above the full line. I about crapped my pants thinking I had a stuck or leaking injector. got home and it was the same. after an hour the level went down to full. I did a little reading and found this oil has higher film strength and this is probably what caused the oil to 'run' up the dip stick.

however if the level is up, and constantly increaseing then your making oil and have a leaking/stuck/cracked injector and this is a bad thing. keep an eye on it and check it often, if the level stays the same I wouldnt worry about it.

usualy injector problems only happen when you realy push them hard with pressure boxes, however they can fail on their on in stock situations.

signs of a bad injector is a loud knock, oil level increaseing, alot of black /blue smoke, dramaticaly lowered fuel mileage, and decreased engine performance.

It is funny that you guys posted this. I just changed my oil with Amsoil 15w 40 heavy duty diesel oil last week and it was dead on. I drove to work and back, about 80 miles and it was about an inch over the full mark. I kept telling myself that I know I started the engine and gave it time to cycle through the filter and everything before I topped it off at full. I was wondering how it got over full???? Now I know.

the q-zilla box only does pressure on the higher settings, and it keeps the pressures in a safe range. on the lower settings is only does timeing and duration.

Been watching this myself. The last time I checked the oil it was a good 3/4 inch above full. Must of checked it seven times. I just had the oil changed again and it was spot on. Then I drive two and from for 2 days and check it again and once again.....overfull [&:]

I also was a little apprehensive as there has been talk on another forum regarding this very issue. Lots of people talkin about it and the causes. Many have also been less than pleased with the dealers reponse (bad fuel, not DC's prob. [:@] etc.)

Now, I have only checked it hot so I'll check it before I leave work and see what I get. I've been keeping track and it is currently at the 3 or 9 (part number on the dipstick?).

I just hope the sky isnt falling on my little corner of the CTD world......[]

if you were making oil you would know it. your fuel mileage would be in the crapper and the engine would be running rough with backfireing.
