Default 06 Drive shaft grease fitting?

I just got my 06 MegaCab serviced at the dealer for the first service interval 7500 miles. After they were finished i asked the service manager if they greased the drive shaft. He said it didnt have a fitting. I quickly pointed out that he was wrong, he then went a nd talked to the tech that worked on the truck. The tech said that mine was sealed and had a cap on the fitting.

Is this possible or are these guys full of it? I told him it was a needle grease fitting and he insisted that it was capped.

Hmmmm, got me curious too. I have an appt. at 0900 tomorrow to have mine serviced at the dealership. I would have the oil changed somewhere else (b/c it would be cheaper) but I wanna get that shaft fitting greased. That brings up another question. I told the service guy that I want synthetic oil. He said that NO oil is truly 100% synthetic, but the oil that Mopar uses in the CTD is synthetic. confuuuuusing [sm=confused06.gif]

Brought mine in at 3750 like the manual says and it took 3 techs to find and lube my fitting. After done the guy who found it and lubed it says, he wouldn't do it very often because it will blow out the seals. I say the book says do it every 3750 miles. He shrugs and says I'll do it if you want, but I don't recommend it. Go figure?

Look at it like this....

The manual states to do it at the specified interval. If something gets screwed up and you have performed the maint........no warranty prroblems.

Now, say that you don't because some tech verbally says the "he" doesn't recommend it and something goes wrong. Who is left with the out of pocket expense? YOU, BROTHER!

It's YOUR money, it's YOUR peice of mind.

The lube point is there and does require lubrication. Previous models (I don't know which) had sealed fittings. The 06 I have has the lube point. After a long time under the truck and a couple of posts on the internet, I found it. I was so happy I posted this picture for all to use when trying to find it. I also have a picture of the grease gun fitting that is needed to get the grease in because it is not a "standard" fitting.

Oops. Forgot to add that if you jack up the front left wheel you can spin the driveshaft by hand to help in finding the lube point. The first time it will take you about half a roll of papertowels and some Q-tips. The second time you will use less. Getting the grease to go in takes a little patience and just the right touch.

When I asked the dealership if they remembered to grease the front drive shaft (and I asked b/c of their record breaking oil change time), his response was, "yeah, the front AND back. "Ummm, sir, recruit Gump reports as ordered", I was not aware that there was one on the rear shaft.[sm=dontgetit.gif]

So since the tech tells me its capped, isnt he an agent of DC? Then DC is responsible if it is improperly maintained when I bring it in for service. Clearly then this tech is clueless, so now what do I do? Should I contact the service Manager? Is it better to go to DC and have them contact the dealership.?

I tried to insist that the fitting was there and serviceable.

Any advice?

First........SHOW THE GUY THE STICKER UNDER THE HOOD!

Second.......MAKE THEM PUT IT UP ON THE LIFT AND POINT TO THE FITING!

Third........GRAB THE GREASE GUN AND DO IT YOURSELF! Right in front of him. (How's it go? Give him a fish, he eats for a day....Teach him to fish, he eats for a lifetime.)

I'm not yelling at you, I just have no confidence in them having even remotely a clue about what and when to do anything. And in this case, at least you are aware of it, whereas the next guy might not be and you could be saving him a headache as well.

I know your not yelling at me so thanks for the reply. I put a call into DC help desk to go that route, the tech was pretty much not interested in listening to me, and I have not been very happy with this dealership in the service dept.

I didnt have time to argue with these guys the day i was there it was on my lunch hour. Now im getting relly pissed Im gonna get some saticfaction on this one way or another. DC is supposed to call me back about this after 10am tomorrow.

Why the F*** do these guys lie all the time???? I dont get it, how do they expect to keep customers?
