Default '05 Park lock - swear package

Please select 2 pages of your favorite swear words, attach them to my 5, and we can send them to the Federal NTSB. or Nutso, or whatever organization it is that dreams this crap up.
Last week I was forced to go to the Dealer and in addition to the a/c work, they by law, had to install the Park/lock recall. This morning about 5:30 A.M. as I attempted to hook up our travel trailer, off goes the idiot horn every time reverse is engaged and the door is not fully shut. The neighbors and myself were VERY PLEASED! I went back into the boards May posts and found other posts from equally happy owners. The posts imply that another trip to the dealer might be able to adjust the sensitivity!!! What the hey! It's only 120 miles and most of a day. What else does one have to do with their time?
Question with no answer? How the hell can so many people, supposedly educated, end up in government work and turn out so much poorly thought out legislation????
Thanks to the sponsors of this board for creating a "vent space". My wife, dog and cat tuned me out long ago.

oh man that sucks... I told my dealer I did not want it installed and they were happy to "forget" to install it.

one suggestion for you could be to toss a switch in series with it so you can disable it.

I also have an 05 and was sent a card advising to bring my truck in for that install.
I have been back twice since then and have told them NOT to do it.
From what I understand, once it is activated, it can not be reversed.
Iv also heard that guys that have it engage the e brake a couple of cliks and it wont work.
There is also a way to defeat it by doing a bypass of somekind with the seatbelt but Im not sure how.

[:@]Ok I had the backup horn thing installed on my truck 2 weekends ago. Without my consent. I called the service manager and was told it was manditory. I said take it off [:@]with a few choice words. Last weekend I went to the dealer and they had to replace my front control module n/c and the horn no longer honks. Why did Dodge in all the wisdom make everyone get this stupid thing. I would have signed a waiver .

i guess i'm one the the lucky ones. i don't have it installed in my '06. thank god i would probly shoot somebody if mine did that. and i think that my dealership knows better than to put it in mine due to the fact that they know i've been pissed since i bought the truck.

you guys with the '06's are lucky in another respect... my '05 (and all '05's) have a nice habit of upshifting into OD regardless if you want it or not. found out the hard way coming down a trail in 4x4 low... 2nd was too slow, 3rd would have been just right so I poped it into 3rd in tow/haul mode and it immediately upshifted into 3rd, then OD. Nice! what dumbass at DC thought that one up?

That is funny! I just picked up my new rig yesterday. Today I installed my brake controller and was backing up to my trailer to re-set my equalizer hitch, had the door open and the horn started going off. Scared the crap outta me since it was completely unexpected & I was paying attention to backing up. Yeah I don't get it .

I have a 06 with this junk on it from the factory. I would love to put a "switch" inline to permanently disable the thing... but where is the wire? If i cut it, what else do I disable?

And while I'm on this, anyone else know how do disable the lights are on dinging thing?

I do a lot of ranch work with my truck and I don't need a my truck dinging, honking, or otherwise trying to tell me I'm about to kill myself, thank you.
