Ram 3500 diesel 2006 vibrates under load
I just bought a 2006 Ram 3500 diesel, 1500 miles, first time towing #13000 camper, 373 rear axel well within towing capacity, severe vibration in the drive line somewhere when pressing the throttle pedal, dealer had 2 techs look at it with camper, one said weak or bad clutch springs, 2nd said (first one got fired I think) too much angle of attack on the driveline, truck overloaded and causes the springs to twist and vibrate, wont hurt anything, (very questionable, my selling dealer said go to another dealer)contacted Dodge.com for Factory Rep, was told to go back to dealer. plan to have the 2006 camper weighed at a truckstop this week.
any help here is appreciated. thanks

I have a 06' 3500 DRW Mega Cab and had a similar problem. My dealer told me
that it was launch shutter caused by the drive line angle through the carrier bearing.
To verify this he placed approx. 1/2 in. stack of washers under the carrier and test
drove it again. This curred my problem maybe it will help you.

Had this simular problem with the power stroke ford I had previously. It would shutter under load when taking off from a stop, like a stop sign, stop light, etc.. Pulling a 13,500lbs fifth wheel. Mine was caused by the torque converter slipping under heavy load. As it heats up driving in stop and go traffic it would get worse. Installed banks trans command and helped it out greatly. Trans command bumps up trans pump pressures to keep the torque converter locked up. I don't believe its with the rear springs coiling up. Also, I believe if a spring bent, twisted, and vibrated long enough, it will break. The carrier bearing adjustment is a cheap and easy thing to do first as the torque converter test would be alot more expensive and time consuming. 13,000#s on a 3.73 ratio may be within towing limits, but its still alot of strain on a driveline. Good luck..

I agree, i've seen these trucks tow 30,000 plus, but I do need to find the solution for the shudder while towing the camper, doubt Dodge will help, so its aftermarket I suppose, any ideas?

the only other thing I can think of to add to what Msieb said would be a u-joint or the carrier bearing if you have a 2 piece drive shaft going bad.
