Diesel vs Gas
I'm looking at getting a Ram soon and am trying to decide between gas and diesel. I know that the diesels get better gas mileage, but recently gas prices have been much lower than diesel. I'm really just looking for some sort of guidance, I don't really have anything to tow that would require the extra power...but still like the diesels. Any help would be appriciated.
drive both, you'll be hooked on the diesel's power.
HEMI's fear me
Dusted one off saturday. after I passed him he was having to get out of the way of my smoke bomb
anyway, the diesel will get better resale, the engine will last MUCH longer and can be more reliable. plus I enjoy the knowledge I can pull ANYTHING I hook up to, includeing trees straight from the ground.

I agree with Drew.
Test drive both and then make your decision.
When we were getting a new truck thats what we did and from a personal view, youll like the fact that with the diesel you can have the power to pull anything you want.
May not need it but its comforting to know the power is there.

I just got my first diesel and I have to say there seems to be a whole lot more maintenance involved(3 gallon oil changes for example).
That being said, if you want a car with a bed on it get a gasser. If you want a real truck get a diesel. Very simple

more maint? change oil/filter, change fuel filter... no plugs, no wires, to cap & rotor to wear out plus you still have the oil to change out... ...sure the fuel filter does need to be changed every 10~15k but that takes 10 minutes, 15 tops if you do it yourself.
from a former magnum 360 equipped truck owner... I'll take the CTD anyday...

having owned an 03 1500 with a hemi let me say this to you. the hemi is a great motor in a car. it is not built to be in a truck in my opinion. i towed with my hemi and while it did the job it labored a little going over some of the passes in Idaho and Montana. also 6 mpg was not where it is at. i tow the same trailer which weighs about 6k loaded and i get 12 with cummins and have no problems. you really can forget its back there. drive both and make your decision. you'll see what everyone is talking about.

I own a 360 gasser (See sig). A buddy of mine just bought an 01' CTD. Now i wish mine was a diesel[8D] Also with a diesel, 10 years from now it will still be worth some money!!!!
I had a 03 quad cab 4x4 Hemi. It was nice but I just got my 06 CTD quad cab 4x4, and I like this truck so much more. It doesn't have the 345 horses like the hemi, but its has 315 or something like that,[sm=gears.gif] but the pulling power is great. I am glad I got a diesel.
With the way truck costs are going through the roof, I like knowing that I have a truck that should ( if I take care of it and take these guy's advice ) get over 500 thousand miles.
Not too shabby !!
