Default is this a crazy idea?

to put a cummins engine into a 2004 QC 1500 dodge ram? is it possible? would it be worth it or just go get a new truck?

Anythings "possible", but it'd be cheaper and easier to just get a new truck.

it would be pretty cool though. to have such a light weight truck and such a powerful engine.

I second that thought. You would be better off buying a new truck with a CTD already in it. You would have to swap trannsmissions and the rear axle as well as wiring, PCM and probably have to rig some stuff up for the intake heater. Alot of work for you to have anything when you are done. Get a 2500 or a 3500 because that way you will have the stronger frame too.

Not to mention the added weight of the diesel engine would probably require a heavier duty front suspension
