Dude I can watch that video all day. Someone was cool enough to post it last week for us.

Question I have though ........ how stupid was the guy to just stand there next to the strap between the two trucks. Almost as funny as the Dodge RIPPING the Ford down the track, would have been to see that guy get whacked in the puss.

 

The fire dept taught me to lay canvas tarps over the tow chain/straps. If it snapped, it would get tangled up and not do anyone any harm. Plastic tarpulins work as well.

also if you look at the height of where the tow rope attaches to the trucks the ford is up higher effectively lifting the back end of the dodge some.

BTW, I have personaly witnessed an 1-1/4 steel cable snap and slice right through a 4 inch pine

trying to winch an M1A2 (68tons) out of a mud hole, mire depth of 2, so that 68 tons instantly turns into 136tons of pulling force needed, the main winch on an M88A1 has about 90,000(45ton) pulling force, we had a 3:1 mech. advantage set up and the bad boy still let loose, sounded like a cannon going off. almost had to change my pants when it went cause I was pushing the M1 with a D8 I aquired

 

Hew Drew...every year we'd get our fire apparatus stuck in the mud at the Fire Fighters Field Days. The reserve guy used to bring this thing i believe, they call a Hemmet? Hemmit? Big 8x8 with all sorts of hoists and cradles. I believe they also used it for tank and vehicle, recovery and towing.


The army guy would say. "Start ur rig so you have air. Release your brakes. Put it in neutral and let me do the work".......lol.

It walked out of the mud pulling us behind like we weren't even there..lol

 

yup. . .the M984A1, it is a good machine, I dont like the Detroit 8v92 that much, but it does the job



I drive one for my NG unit, along with a M936 5 ton wrecker. I like the 5 ton better cause the crane has better lifting capabilities, sports a Cummins 6CTAA engine (with the P7100 pump)

Now here's some potentially shocking news. I am a diehard Cummins fan. But another motor that gives me goosebumps is any 2 stroke, Detroit 8V-92TA. Isin't that what those Hemmets use? Cool pic man.LOL
