all the older engine will be able to run it, the problem lays in the engine built after 1/1/07 and the particulate filter geting clogged from running LSD. (No MayFair and DD I'm not talking about acid)

do you need to add to the fuel. depends on what year you have, 98.5-02 VP44 engines, I would to make sure the VP44 is lubricated properly. 94-98.4, I would to make sure the seals in the P7100 get lubricated, but you realy dont need to worry about it as much. 03-current you dont need to, but I do for fuel mileage purposes.

prices will go up since you have to refine it more to remove the sulfur, also fuel mileage will suffer since the ULSD has a lower cetane rateing.

OK Drew, let me make sure I've got this right since I was actually gonna ask it anyway...

WILL I need to purchase additives in the future just to drive my truck or not?

I ask this because I was told just the other day that I WILL, and so will everyone else who has a diesel engine because the fuel that we run will no longer be available. Apparently it's also causing quite a stink in the boating world as well.

What's up ??

your truck will run on the new ULSD. it will run fine. my main concern is when you remove the sulfur content you also remove the lubricative properties of the diesel as well. Diesel is an oil when you get down to it. ULSD is getting close to JP8 jet fuel that is very dry when it comes to lubrication. Ive personaly had to dump a quart of HD30ND into the fuel tank just to keep the injector pumps in the trucks from burning up when overseas.

Refineries are adding aditional lubrication to the fuel to make up for that which has been removed to the removal of sulfur. Do you need addatives, no. But your VP44 will thank you for adding them into the tank.

any thing to charge us more and get bad mileage so we have to fill up more. we all know they want us in little rice burners anyways.

That's why these diesel boat guy's are sweating it.

What makes you think that my Ram will be fine with less lubrication?
