Just yanked mine a few minutes ago; along with the baffling in the intake tube.

Let's go see how she sounds.

 

YUP, USAFR hit it dead on.........

it sounds just like a C5 taking off. From 1400 - 2200 RPM's that thing has a nice little note to it.

Not annoying, it's actually deeper pitched than stock.

Definitely more noticeable with the windows open and all I have on it is a K&N drop in and stock exhaust.

I like it.

After removing my silencer ring I don't notice any difference? Sounds exactly the same to me ....

 

i removed mine today and every time i let off the gas it sounded like my filter was gonna blow off. I checked all my connections on the K&N it was fine I even took it back off and re-installed the filter no change. So put the silencer ring back in and the sound went away. If i had an air box i think it would have blew it off. has anyone experienced this?

 

I have the K&N system on mine, and haven't noticed anything like that. Local Yokel, do you still have the stock airbox and tube on?

You may have to remove the baffels inside the stock tube. There have been numerous threads on this subject. The K&N was one of the first things that I did, so I have always heard my turbo, even before I removed the silencer ring. The removal just made it louder.

 

I have the whole cold air intake it did it whenever I let off the throttle, untill i out it back in, I am starting to get concerned seeing as how I am the only one with the problem.

YEP !!!

It took me all of about 15 minutes to remove with no problems whatsoever. It DOES sound like a jet !! As usual ( or course ) I have some questions ...

Is it me, or does the engine run better without it?

I swear when I drove with it in while doing 70mph that I'd tach out at the first line after 2k. NOW I'm either right at or just below 2k. Anyone else notice that?

2nd, are you SURE that thing is just there to silence the turbo?

With it shaped like a funnel it looks like it would do a better job of directing the airflow into the turbo.

All in all I'm digin the sound though. Thanks for the tip US, and more importantly thanks again to whoever it was who took the pics and gave us a step by step. I too took some pics that I'll post later.
