HELP !!! Need 6 speed asap!
Some of you read recently bout my accident. Well, just found out today that my trans is trashed. Insurance will cover it, but not if they have to buy a new trans cause they can't find a used one. If that happens, they are gonna total the truck and give me less than it's value. The trans guy told me that I basically need a whole trans cause three gears are chipped.
Anybody have one, know where to get one, or whatever....let me know, thanks.
BTW it's for a 2003

Whats the deal with the insurance company? They have to repair your truck or offer you a fair value for your truck. I don't know anything about your particular truck, but what makes you think they aren't offering you enough?

They are only willing to give me $16,000 for the truck because it has 170,000 miles. Even though when I run the value through NADA witht the same miles it shows $24,900

RE: HELP !!! Need 6 speed asap!
You can bet the insurance company will use whole sale price or close to it along with all of the low priced pos junk selling in the local area, even what is sold in the newspaper. Had this happen to me many years ago.
I wished Edmunds still had there TMV web site working as that would give you a good idea of what it was worth in the real world and not what Kelly or NADA thinks it is worth!
Good luck as fighting with them is no fun and you and I almost always lose.

I go here for my searches of wrecking yards nationwide and in Canada: http://www.car-part.com
DO NOT CONFUSE this link with the one for JCWhitney. It is similar but not related.
Enter YR, MAKE, MODEL, and the options they ask for. It will come up, hopefully, with a more than a few options.
FYI, I ran a search at this site for a transmission, 6-speed, for a 2003 Dodge 2500 4x4 NON-HO diesel. Found a few trannys available including one for $1950 at Barger Mattson in Twin Falls ID. I purchased a transaxle from them for the ex-wife's POS and it worked great! No problems.
Good luck!
