Default which intake set up

i heard k and n's can let dirt in what is everyones opionion on filters i want to get one because i want to get arid of my baffle i can buy a airaid mit for 50 bucks but i might as well replace everythign and have a reusable filter so i dont have to buy filters. i dont want to spend alot of money though thats my problem and my last truck i bought a cobra ram air kit for my gmc and it sucked i thought it wasnt worth the 600 i paid for it so im scared to buy another expensive setup and i dont really have the money at the moment so anyone know of any good reasonable 200-300 dollar set ups that are good? i saw a volant set up on ebay for 269 its nice. thanks and i know there is a few post like this already but i thought i would do a updated post.

Personally, I got an Airraid Jr kit that has the MIT and am happy with it.
Everyone has their opinion on what they prefer.
Its all a matter of personal choice.

AFE Stage 2 with the pro guard 7 filter... love it however you will loose some mpg with it. turbo spool is pretty damn qucik and it flows like there is no tomorrow...

I'd suggest having a look at the afe stage 2 w/o the proguard filter or something similar. something that will take the stock airbox out and add a free flowing filter.

I just installed the S&B cold air intake and love it, the differance was right there...alot more responsive and seemed to be over all much peppier.

I am running the Volant.....I am happy with it and a clean look too. However, like the AFE stage 2.....lost some MPG....F'n loud though with the ring removed too

any pics of your intake setup Sharky?

I should add to the AFE comments here that when the filter starts getting some miles on it (dirty) mileage goes up.
