Default RE: Fuel filter problem / question ...

Intermittent Dead Pedal (press the accelerator and the pump just doesn't add fuel), every once in a while when the truck is cold it takes an extra crank or two to fire up (this is normal from time to time, but mine has been happening more like every day to every other day). It hasn't set the P0216 code yet, that code means the VP is pretty much done, but from everything I've read on these things not all of them set a code. Especially if it's a failure of the electronics, which I'm pretty sure is what's happening to mine. I've been noticing that if the outside temp is below 40 I don't get dead pedal at all, and most people believe the electronics fail from temperature cycles and higher temps (it was getting really bad in the heat of the summer). Basically, don't get all excited about it, you'll know if the truck starts acting funny, a lot of these same symptoms can be other problems with these things too, bad APPS (Acellerator Pedal Position Sensor), plugged filters can cause dead pedal and stalling, even battery grounds and such can cause funny things with these trucks. If it's running just keep it rolling, and keep up on the maintenance, it'll let you know if it's really sick.
