Default winter blend #2...

you guys who are familiar with the "winter blend" of #2... did you loose some power when you had it in your truck? I just notice the last two tanks that my power is dropping off... trying to find out why. air filter was just cleaned and it has been really strong since the aero install about a month ago.

what do you guys think?

btw, drove 250 miles or so yesterday (went to the bay area) and got 16.7 mpg or so...

I've gotta admit it, I too have noticed the same thing.

I thought it was just me, that maybe I was crazy, but the truck definately doesn't seem as spunky for some reason. Maybe it IS just the new fuel mix.

Man that suxx .....

Good news is I think they make a pill for that now! [8D]

As far as power goes I havent noticed any loss but then again I have yet to see the local truck stop offer / advertise the "winter blend". I have seen it closer to town though.

Steve,

Are you buying from a big truck stop? I have a good Idea of where you live and if you don't buy from a big truck stop then I can't see them selling a winter blend as it cost more. Now if you got your fuel in Sac at let's say the 49'er ( I don't know if that place still in business?) or any place thet sells fuel to trucks heading East then I could see it being a winter blend. Anyway if you do/did get a tank of winter blend then yes you will see a drop in MPG and some in power as the Diesel #1 they mix in has less BTU's and it also has less lube. I should say that is how it was done years ago and think it is the same today.

hummm, makes me think now... the last tank i filled before heading to the bay area power was pretty good. was a tower market station IIRC... they dont go thru alot of diesel. when I got back I filled up at a chevron. after that fillup, thats when i noticed the lackluster performance...

the truck stop I would like to get my fuel from has been shut down for the last 3~4 months... not sure what they are doing but it would be nice for them to open back up again.
