Default crankshaft sensor

I bought this damn crankshaft sensor (from the friggin' dealer [:@]) for my 2001 dodge truck...and I just read somewhere that they deleted the crankshaft sensor off the 2001-2002 Dodge models. Anyone else hear this?

Not sure, I'll have to look at the engine to tell you if it has a Crank sensor, I'm pretty sure it doesn't though.

I'd appreciate that. I'm still stumped at what this problem can be, I need to get my truck running.

I just replaced the crankshaft sensor on my 01 when I had the injector pump out...it was easy to replace with the pump out but I'm not sure how you get to it with the pump on the truck.

I dont see how they could delete a crank sensor... how else would they know where to time the injectons?

cam shaft sensor which is located near the rear of the block.

our HPCR engine actualy start with the computer reading the signal from the cam shaft, but also use the crank sensor for a more accurate signal on the exact location of the pistons in order to time the three injection events properly.

you can actualy hook the crank and cam sensors backwards on our engines and the truck will still run. the sensors are exactly the same and the connectors are the same as well.

The sensor is an easy install on the 00. 1 bolt alittle tight fit because of a steel lilne but I was able to push it to the side to get it to squeek by with no issues. Dealer quoted 450.00 for part and install. Took me 20 min.......more time to find the socket extention and ratchet
