question for anyone with a SRT 10 hood on their CTD >>>
I just installed a SRT hood on my truck. I'm looking into modifying the SRT ram air to connect to my air box.
I've seen some options but was wondering......
has anyone done this already ? If you have, what is to stop water from entering the air box?
if you haven't, what did you do to prevent water from pouring into the engine while driving in the rain ?
anyone know of any aftermarket scoop inserts for the SRT hood ?
Thanks !

I hear you on the $$$ for the intake. I was going to call Volant tomorrow to see if they'd sell just
the tube from the scoop. If you haven't done so already, I'll let you know what I find out.
I live up in the mountains of NC and it rains all the time.... it's raining now in fact.
You would think with all the aftermarket stuff out there, you could find some kind of custom
scoop insert that would block out the elements. I guess that's defeating it's purpose though.

Let me know, Id appreciate it, thanks.
Yes you would, how ever water is a real pain to keep out I hope I can purchase just the air duct from the hood to my box, that would be the ticket. Ive been checking E-Bay but no luck. I wish Ram Air made it for the diesel...from what they say there is not a big demand for it, oh well[:@]

when you connect the intake scoup to the box you should make sure it doesnt point right at the filter. fab up a deflector so water will go downwards 1st. if you do this, I think it'll be no worse for the filter than being in the fog. for the scoup coming from the fog light housing, if you bring it up from the bottom, you should have no problem

yes, I did and i was told the kit components aren't sold separately. [&:] So, I gave up on that and wanted to
replace the scoop insert with a dual mesh like I installed in my grill.
Well, I found that I can't buy just a piece of the mesh.... you have to buy the whole grill kit[&:]
I think we're into something here that if we want the hood to work with the CTD, we have to come up with our own design.
As someone mentioned on another forum though, the turbo can only pass so much air anyway so by
adding air coming from the scoop, were not really doing anything.... makes sense.
My real concern is water entry. Sure the motor can handle it but, it doesn't need to be in there.
I guess i'll have to design something myself as a insert for when it rains.
